In Love with Black and White/Ivory Color Schemes

There is just something about a black and white wedding color scheme that says sophistication to me.  I love the simple elegance of it. There are multiple ways to play up this color scheme so that it still stands out and is personalized to you.

What I love about black and white/ivory weddings:
·         It will never go out of style. People will wait to see what the trendy “in” colors of the upcoming wedding season from magazines and runways are, but with a black and white theme, your wedding will always be “in trend”.  You will look at your invite 10 years later and not think it looks dated.
·         It is so easy to add slight touches of color elsewhere, like in your flowers or centerpieces.  It helps make those colors really stand out.  The addition of a few drops of color can be a spotlight against a background of black and white/ivory without being the main focus or stealing the show.
·         Since you are limiting your color palate, you can play up different patterns and textures without taking away from the elegance of the event.  For example, using plaid or polka-dot frames for table numbers will not look out of place.

Now for some sets that in cooperate this theme:
Black and Champagne Custom Pocket Wedding Invitation Suite
Notice how this couple added on a simple rhinestone in their pocket invitation.  It was a simple add on, but really made it stand out.  It was an invitation that was very classic looking, but also had that “wow” factor in the simple yet stylish design.  To this day, it is one of my most asked about invitations from potential clients.  For many clients, it serves as their inspiration for their new design.

Black and Champagne Custom Pocket Wedding Invitation Suite - Escort Cards

This theme was carried on throughout the wedding, as we also did the escort cards, and added rhinestones to the escort cards, and added ribbon with rhinestones to help decorate around the venue.

And just look at how great this cake looks?  Need I say more at how stylish you can make a classic black and ivory wedding look modern and stylish at the same time?  Don't worry, I will ;) Cake designed by Premier Pastry

This couple also used a classic white theme, but with an added design, it gave this invitation a fresh modern feel. Damask patterns are so on trend right now and have so many possibilities to make yours completely unique from anyone else. I get asked constantly if I am able to do damask prints and the answer is YES!

Finally, this couple embraced adding a little bit of color, unlike the other two sets above.  Notice how this wedding is still mostly black and white, but has a small touch of color.  The color  really pops, but without taking away from the main color scheme of black and ivory.  I just think that the small hint of color is beautiful on the menu cards and table numbers adds to the romance of the event.

So, as you plan for any event such as a wedding, shower, or even a birthday, do not shy away from this classic color scheme.  Weren't we always told in history class that history repeats itself? There is a reason why black and white/ivroy invitations have stood the test of time.

Lisa & Rune - Silver, White and Diamond Custom Wedding Invitations & Stationery

Lisa and Rune were a fabulous couple we worked with on their wedding in California at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Hotel.
Lisa's wedding vision was crisp. clean and fabulous!  She wanted to include a diamond buckle silver and white.  She also loved the idea of everything being organized in our pocket envelope.  After Lisa selected her fonts we immediately started working on her design.  We were so happy with the results and so was she that she added on coordinating stationery including table numbers, menu cards, well wish sign, programs, place cards and thank you cards.

Tiffany and Nick were a FABULOUS couple that we had the honor to work with throughout the year 2011. It was really truly an honor to work with them.

Tiffany first contacted me and let me know of her beautiful color scheme of crimson red, black, champagne with crystals. Oh the ideas we started to come up with.....so much fun! After some tweaking we came up with a rhinestone buckle invite placed on a slant attached to a pocket. It was truly gorgeous and really captured what the heart of their day.

We used the same paper/theme throughout the rest of their stationery which included tea-length programs with a rhinestone buckle and table numbers.

For their escort cards they were looking to-do something unique. They decided on making a tree contraption and wanted to hang the cards on that. What a fabulous idea! We made the escort cards a diamond shape, layering in their colors and added a beautiful crystal within their custom monogram we designed.

We created beautiful menu cards that were tucked in the guests napkins as well as the various cake flavors and names for relatives placed in front of their coordinating pictures.

To send off the night we created a custom Sparkler Send Off sign and stickers that were placed on cookie bags for guests to bring home a treat.

We also created a welcome itinerary booklet for her guests gift bags as well as rehearsal dinner invites and place cards for the rehearsal dinner.

We were so honored to work with this fabulous couple and cant wait to work with them again on custom stationery in the future!

Special thanks to Dana Goodson Photography for most of the beautiful pictures above!

Jaclyn and Bernard -Damask, Hot Pink, Black/White with Crystals and Rhinestone Buckle

Stationery designed by Sweet Pea Print
Cake Designed by Premier Pastry

About our clients:
Jaclyn is such an such a beautiful amazing person inside and out. We go way back to the good old travel soccer/high school soccer days. We reconnected though facebook and was thrilled when I found out her and Bernard were dating.

Soon after we connected, both her and Bernard went on a trip to Las Vegas and he proposed....YAY!!!! They are so perfect for one another!!!

After the date was set, and we started contacting each-other to work on "Jaclyn and Bernard" custom wedding invitation package.

Our first meeting was so fun, fun, fun! She brought her mother so we could all discuss ideas, it was a great creative meeting. It was also an additional amazing experience for me because I have not seen her mother in years - she is so kind, smart and has that kind of laugh that makes you laugh. It was nice to reconnect with her as well.

They started describing their vision of the wedding - damask, magenta, black/white with a little "bling". LOVED it!!! Since Jaclyn and Bernard were engaged in Las Vegas she wanted to incorporate Las Vegas hotels as the table names which was a super fabulous way to put even more of a personal touch on their special day. She also love the idea of a monogram.

After our meeting the design phase began. It was a lot of fun. I really truly enjoyed working with them. We went back and forth with ideas with proofs and came up with their custom set.

See below for the pieces:

Tiffany - Wine Themed Bridal Shower with Rhinestone Buckle

We were contacted by one of our fabulous clients to design her bridal shower invites. We were in the process of designing her and her fiances wedding invitations as well, so we were keeping that in mind while designing.

Her bridal shower was taking place at the beautiful Springfiled Grill in Ohio and her theme of the shower was "wine"

Now we love all our clients but we especially loved working with Tiffany because she was always very open minded and let us try new things.

We started off designing a 5x7 invite but thought since it was a "wine theme" maybe we could print on a shape.

I immediately started drawing out the concept and made an outline of a wine bottle. Then I made a smaller invite of text that would be placed where the label on the wine bottle would go.

Then I started thinking....it needs a little something more, hum...what todo?? Since her wedding invites (which you will see next month) used a rhinestone buckle so I thought that was a great way to introduce it and added that on to the design and BAMB, we created her a totally fabulous layered, die-cut bridal shower invitation.

To coordinate with the invitation we designed a layered RSVP card which indicated various fabulous menu choices for her guests - YUM! We layered it in coordinating stock and used coordinating fonts that would be used thought out the rest of her wedding stationery.

As her favors, her mother purchased wine for everyone so we designed a diamond layered favor tag that was attached to the wine bottle favors with ribbon - such a beautiful custom touch

Then to round off her bridal shower set we designed beautiful coordinating thank you notes.

Everything seamlessly went together and coordinated so well. See below...

We received such great reviews from them on our weddingwire review list.

Thank you so much!!!

It has been such a wonderful experience working with Tiffany and her family. Not only did we gain a lifetime client, but a lifetime friend.
